Sustainable Agriculture
  • Lemhi County Farmer’s Market (market runs from June 21 – Oct. 3) in its second year, vendors increased from 19 in 2009 to 56 in 2010.

  • USDA Farmer’s Market Promotion grant funds market manager part-time position, marketing, and travel to trainings.

  • Dr. Karen Launchbaugh Univ. of Idaho Professor of Rangeland Ecology, speaks at sold-out Harvest Celebration 


Environmental Education
  • “Sagebrush Sea”  program included a sage grouse lek field trip and a puppet show

  • “Forest are Fantastic” included two field trips; Cougar Point with SVS Botanist Michelle Tucker and Fourth of July Creek with BLM          Forester Bill Baer

  • SVS partnered with the Lemhi CMWA and Salmon High School to create a “bug corral”, for raising bugs that eat weeds.

  • Big Green Bus.  Dartmouth University bus w/sustainable living demonstrations parked at Lemhi County Farmers Market on 8/21

  • Riparian Workshop hosted in conjunction w/ IDFG and others; SVS gets Idaho Real Estate Commission certified education provider        status

  • SVS hosted Fading Gold Aspen Photo Contest event

  • Earth Day Celebration with Recycling Drive, gear swap and reuse contest, 19 volunteer contributed 112 hours

  • SVS helped with the Black Rock Cleanup attended by 10 volunteers

Forest Restoration
  • SVS awarded RAC 2010 funds for Hughes Creek Multiparty Monitoring and Aspen Inventory

  • 8 volunteers contributed more than 150 hours for monitoring and inventory work, 5 volunteers contributed 42 hours for weed work

  • Partnered w/ Youth Employment Program to improve trail in North Fork Ranger District.  4 volunteers contributed 48 hours of trail work

  • Monitoring Team completed27 plots in designated old growth stands, 4 monitoring plots  and 6 photo points in Hughes Creek timber  sale and prescribed burn units.

  • Aspen Team inventoried 45 separate aspen stands  on Forest Service and BLM lands.

  • Lemhi County Forest Restoration Group (LCFRG)  presents SCNF w/ recommendation memo for 40,000+acre Upper North Fork             Restoration Project.
