Meet our Team

Maggie Seaberg

Executive Director

  • Maggie brings 20 years of experience in natural resource management, conservation, program development, and community engagement to her role as Executive Director of Salmon Valley Stewardship. From 2004 to 2019, she worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana, Oregon, and Idaho as a Forester, Program Manager, and Environmental Planner. She holds degrees in Forest Management and Recreation Resources Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Environmental Planning from Utah State University.

    Maggie believes that meaningful conservation starts with people—and that strong communities are essential to caring for the places we call home. As Executive Director, she is thrilled to be able to lead the talented SVS team in bringing people together around conservation, education, local food systems, and hands-on stewardship of the land. She is particularly passionate about building partnerships, turning good ideas into action, and creating opportunities for people to make a difference in their own communities.

    A Salmon resident since 2010, Maggie has served on the boards of several local nonprofits, including the Salmon Arts Council, Salmon River Mule Deer Foundation, and Fernwaters Public Charter School. She loves adventuring in the outdoors and traveling with her husband and three kiddos.

Kate Yeater

Director of Communications & Outreach

  • Originally from the farmlands of northwest Ohio, Kate fell in love with the Salmon River and surrounding mountains during an internship with the South Zone Salmon-Challis National Forest in 2017. She holds a degree in Anthropology from Purdue University, where she specialized in political ecology and Indigenous rights in global environmental governance. 

    Since that first experience up the Yankee Fork, Kate has farmed in Alabama, learned to speak Chitumbuka while serving in the Peace Corps in Malawi, shared Crow culture at a Montana state park, and managed visitor services, interpretation, and education programs at City of Rocks National Reserve and Castle Rocks State Park.

    At Salmon Valley Stewardship, Kate manages the education program, facilitates the trails group, leads grant writing efforts, and supports organizational operations. She is passionate about community engagement, place-based learning, and creating opportunities for everyone to build meaningful connections with the outdoors. 

    Outside of work, Kate enjoys quilting and sewing for her business, Broad Vista Quilts, hiking, floating the river, and exploring new places on our Central Idaho public lands.

Garret Stahl

Local Food & Agriculture Manager

  • Before starting his role with SVS Garret managed wine-grape vineyards in Washington, Idaho and Arizona as well as worked in agriculture research in Montana and Idaho. Garret earned his Master of Science in Horticulture from Washington State University and a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from the University of Idaho. Garret hopes to help strengthen the community by supporting local agriculture and promoting local foods utilization. Outside of work he and his wife are raising two sons and enjoy the wide range of seasonal activities that Central Idaho has to offer.

Joe Stewart

Natural Resource Specialist

  • Joe hails from Seattle, Washington and loves adventuring outside, hiking, gardening, and befriending every dog he meets. He originally moved to Salmon after college and has spent time working in natural resources with the Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and Lemhi Regional Land Trust. Most recently, Joe spent four years as a project manager with Trout Unlimited where he planned and implemented fish habitat rehabilitation projects throughout the Upper Salmon River Basin. When not exploring the beautiful areas around Salmon, Joe is a professional competitive bagpiper and spends time traveling to competitions throughout the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.

Owen Baughman

Native Plants & Restoration Program Manager

  • A life-long resident of the sagebrush drylands of the West, Owen Baughman has worked since 2004 in native plant management and research. From technician to research leader, he has worked for The Nature Conservancy, the USDA Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station, and the University of Nevada Reno across the Great Basin, Colorado Plateau, and Intermountain West. His research and efforts have focused on understanding how to improve native plant restoration success in drylands, especially in the face of widespread exotic plant invasions. He was thrilled to join SVS in 2025 to help steward the incredible ecosystems of East-Central Idaho. He has a B.S. ('10 U. of Idaho 2010) and M.S. ('14 U. of Nevada Reno) in Ecology. He moved to Salmon with his wife (fisheries biologist) and son (fearless toddler) to enjoy and conserve all that this region offers, and in his spare time partakes in local outdoor adventures, foraging/hunting, gardening, beekeeping, and sometimes traveling the larger world.

Cameron Rolle

Community Food Systems Manager

  • Cameron has lived in Salmon since 2015 and is a familiar face around town. She spent several seasons with SVS as a Natural Resources Technician, and still loves getting out in the woods to hike and botanize. Her primary passion is growing herbs and food on her small farm. She also loves backcountry skiing, hiking, and spending time at home with her partner and their pets. She is grateful to be helping her community in a deeper way through her role in community food systems at SVS.

Eli Windy

Botany & Restoration Specialist

  • Eli is a botanist and rare plant grower who has spent the past few years working across the West collecting native seeds and getting to know the landscapes they come from. That work quickly turned into a real passion for restoring healthy plant communities and supporting the lands and people connected to them. Along the way, he's worked with public land agencies and helped start a community garden and small seed-growing project. Eli loves getting his hands in the soil, working with plants at every stage, and connecting people to the landscapes around them. Eli is especially excited to be in the Salmon Valley, contributing to restoration work that supports such special ecosystems and working lands. Eli is looking forward to meeting people, building connections, and contributing to the work that keeps this community and landscape strong.
