Idahoans were extremely lucky to have Gary acting as a Fish and Game commissioner, and I want to take the opportunity to thank him for making the incredible sacrifices required of these public officials. As a wildlife biologist and former manager of Idaho Fish and Game’s Upper Salmon Region, Gary brought a unique professional perspective to the position. But more importantly, Gary sports an uncanny sense of reason — a much needed trait when making decisions about the often emotional subject of fish and game management. I hope the new commissioners take a page from Powers’ play book.
